Manuscript Type
Jurnal Pedagogi: Jurnal Ilmu Pendidikan accepts manuscripts in the following categories: Research Articles and Literature Review Articles. All submissions must demonstrate scholarly rigor, relevance to educational sciences, pedagogy, and related fields, originality, and compliance with the journal's publication ethics policies. The journal's editorial procedures are designed to support research integrity and the reliability of the scholarly record, consistent with COPE guidance on cooperation between journals and research institutions in research integrity matters.
1. Research Articles
Research Articles report original research that contributes to the advancement of pedagogical knowledge, educational theory, instructional methodology, or educational policy. These manuscripts may employ quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods, experimental, classroom action research, or other appropriate educational research approaches.
Research Articles should present a clearly defined research problem, relevant theoretical or conceptual foundations, an appropriate methodology, transparent analysis, and findings supported by the evidence. Submissions should explain their contribution to existing educational literature and discuss the implications of their findings for educational theory, pedagogical practice, curriculum development, or educational policy.
Depending on the nature of the study, manuscripts should generally include the following sections:
- Introduction: Educational research background, problem statement, research objectives, research gap, and contribution to pedagogical scholarship.
- Literature Review and Theoretical Framework: Relevant educational theories, learning models, previous empirical findings, and hypotheses or analytical frameworks, where applicable.
- Research Methodology: Research design, population and sample/participants, instruments and data collection procedures, variables or focus of study, analytical techniques, and other information necessary to understand and assess the research.
- Results and Discussion: Presentation and interpretation of findings, pedagogical analysis, comparison with previous educational research, and discussion of their theoretical, pedagogical, or policy implications.
- Conclusion: Main findings, practical and theoretical contributions, limitations, and recommendations for educators, researchers, or policymakers.
- References: Complete bibliographic information for all cited sources.
The structure may be adapted to the research design and disciplinary conventions in educational sciences, provided that the manuscript communicates its methods, evidence, and conclusions clearly and transparently.
Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of their research, appropriately acknowledging sources, and disclosing relevant conflicts of interest. Concerns regarding research reliability, plagiarism, or other publication ethics issues will be handled in accordance with the journal's policies and relevant COPE guidance on research integrity and publication misconduct.
2. Literature Review Articles
Literature Review Articles provide a critical, analytical, and structured synthesis of existing scholarly literature on a topic relevant to education, pedagogy, and related fields. Their purpose is to evaluate the current state of pedagogical knowledge, identify patterns and inconsistencies in previous educational findings, assess theoretical and methodological developments in education, and establish research gaps that can inform future studies or educational policymaking.
The journal welcomes review manuscripts employing appropriate approaches, including systematic literature reviews, scoping reviews, integrative reviews, and critical or narrative reviews, provided that the chosen approach is clearly justified and implemented rigorously.
Literature Review Articles should go beyond summarizing individual publications. They must demonstrate critical engagement with the literature, a coherent synthesis of evidence, and a clearly articulated contribution to educational and pedagogical scholarship.
Depending on the review approach, manuscripts should generally include the following elements:
- Introduction: Educational background, review objectives, research questions, scope, and rationale for the review.
- Review Methodology: Search strategy, educational databases and sources consulted, search terms, eligibility criteria, screening procedures, and synthesis methods, where applicable.
- Results or Thematic Synthesis: Organization of the reviewed literature into relevant educational themes, theoretical perspectives, empirical patterns, instructional models, or methodological developments.
- Critical Discussion: Evaluation of agreements and contradictions in previous findings, strengths and limitations of the existing educational evidence, theoretical implications, and relevance to pedagogical policy or classroom practice.
- Research Gaps and Future Directions: Identification of unresolved questions and promising directions for further educational research.
- Conclusion: Summary of the principal insights and the review's contribution to the field of education.
- References: Complete bibliographic information for all cited sources.
For systematic and scoping reviews, authors should provide sufficient methodological detail to enable readers to understand how the literature was identified, selected, and synthesized. Authors should report the review process accurately, explain material exclusions where appropriate, and avoid selectively presenting evidence in ways that distort the overall state of knowledge.
COPE's publication ethics guidance emphasizes the importance of research integrity, transparent reporting of concerns, and safeguarding the reliability of the scholarly record. Accordingly, Jurnal Pedagogi: Jurnal Ilmu Pendidikan requires review authors to represent the available literature fairly, acknowledge relevant previous reviews, and disclose any limitations or potential conflicts of interest that could affect the review's interpretation. See COPE guidance on cooperation between research institutions and journals and the COPE official website.
